We Believe

We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Being Mormons is the foundation of our lives. Both personally and as a couple.

So, we thought we would share with you what we believe. Below are our testimonies of the gospel.

If you have any questions about our faith feel free to email us at huntersofhappiness@gmail.com

Elise

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormons. I grew up as a member of the church and was raised in a home with strong christian values. No matter what kind of home you grow up in, there comes a time when you have to decide for yourself what you believe.

I was 14 years old when I knelt down one night beside my bed and prayed to my Father in Heaven to know if this Church, that I had been raised in, was true, if Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God, and if Jesus Christ was my Savior and Redeemer. I can honestly say that words cannot describe how I felt, but I knew that it was all true, I knew that God had a plan for me and I knew that if I followed this path it would lead me to happiness and joy beyond description. I knew that Jesus Christ truly lives. That he is perfect. That he suffered for my sins. That he died for me. That because of him I can return and live with my family for eternity. What amazing peace that brings.

It seems crazy that I could know that right? It seems that it is something you could only hope for or believe. But in ways that are indescribable, I knew. Since that night, I’ve had a lot of trials, made a lot of mistakes and had a lot of choices to make. But I have always known that each of those things were true and undeniable. I have built upon that foundation in many ways. I know that this life is a time for men to prepare to meet God. I know that because Christ made his great Atonement I can be forgiven of my mistakes and I have the ability to become better. I know that the Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that families are eternal and that God’s power has been restored to the earth.

I’m so grateful for the knowledge of these things and that when I kneel in heartfelt prayer my Father in Heaven loves me enough to answer. I know these things! It’s amazing and it makes me happier than anything else.

I’m sure some people wonder what do those ‘weird’ mormons believe. I can’t speak for all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (though most believe similarly), but this is what I believe.

I believe that we have a loving Heavenly Father, who is the father of the entire human race. Because He loves us he wants us to have joy, or enduring happiness. To teach us how to attain joy in this life he gives us guidance in the form of commandments of old and modern revelation for current problems that we face. He also sent his son, Jesus Christ, to give us a perfect example, and for him to sacrifice for the sins of all.

I also believe that God communicates to us through prophets, or normal honorable men called and given authority by God. This has been his method of communication from the beginning of time and continues now. And He will continue to do so into the future as course correction is needed. I believe firmly that Joseph Smith was called to be the prophet of the restoration of Christ’s church in these times. I believe that through Joseph Smith more scriptures such as the Book of Mormon, and Pearl of Great Price and others have been released to us to give us additional, needed testaments to stand with the bible of our savior Jesus Christ. Currently, should our father wish to communicate with us, it will be through the apostles of His church–The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

I know these things through the power of prayer. I encourage all to ask for themselves and trust your heart to know the things which will bring you the greatest happiness in this life.
