Some girly stuff….

So you all know that I was recently married, and probably the best part of all the wedding planning was picking my dress. I wanted something stylish, modest and affordable. So today, I thought I would show you some wedding dresses and trends that I am loving.
In the past couple of years, the bridal industry has quietly been shifting away from plunging necklines and skin-tight mermaid gowns to embrace pearls, soft lace and yesteryear charm. Modest fabrics and minimal makeup are floating down aisles these days.
Pinterest-savvy brides have begun learning to rework family heirloom gowns and customize accessories to achieve the feminine grace of previous generations on their wedding day. In this world, antique lace, brooch bouquets and mismatched china place settings reign supreme. Luckily, brides looking to plan a unique, budget wedding have many options for reasonable wedding attire; many gowns come in at under $1,000 if you know where to look.

The A-line Isabella Lace dress by Ann Tayloris an example of looking elegant while on a budget. Tailored with beautiful cap sleeves and a dramatic back cutout, this dress is appropriate for a formal church wedding while keeping the bride on-trend. Ladies can add a colored sash or unique hair jewelry to let their individuality shine.
Another gownby LightInTheBoxis a steal at $244.99. The made-to-order dress is constructed of light satin that is gathered into diagonal ruching at the waist. A sequined lace bodice adds a tasteful quality while also featuring cap sleeves and a cut-out back. A small swoop train lends some drama.
Perhaps the most exciting trend is the revival of the full, classic ball gown. David’s Bridal carries the Tulle Ball Gown by Vera Wang gown, constructed from whisper-soft yards of cloud-like fabric. A simple jeweled sash lets the asymmetrical gathering of the gown be the focus, and wide straps and a square neckline discreetly cover the chest and create a gorgeous frame for a pretty necklace.
Another style detail, no doubt fueled by Kate Middleton’s royal wedding dress, is long sleeves. A sleeve can set your dress apart in a sea of strapless to make it church-appropriate and regal. Many brides opt for a jacket to get the look of a long sleeved dress while having the freedom to be more casual at their reception. FishInTheSkycarries a cropped fitted lace bolero jacket that will visually blend with a gown to appear as if it is part of the dress. The jacket is a good way to add visual texture to a gown made entirely of smooth satin or lace. JenJenHouseoffers a gathered tulle jacket that is a nice contrast to a detailed lace dress. It is slightly loose and very lightweight, making it ideal for warm-weather weddings.

I loved my dress for my wedding, but often finding myself wishing I could re-live the whole thing over and over again in different dresses and hairstyles. The curse of pinning, I suppose.Found your blog via Love, the Skinnys. Stop by mine sometimes, huh? I'd love to get to know you better!Sue // Chevron & Lace

I loved wedding dress shopping. The key is to have a open mind and try on anything. I tried on a dress that didn't really look good on the hangar, but I fell in love with it as soon as i put it on. Check out my blog for a stella & dot giveaway and join me this Thursday April 25 for my link up.Agi:)

I guess I got married before the trend started, but I was lucky enough to find a vintage inspired dress. It was perfect. I'm also loving the softer more vintage styles right now.
