The Ultimate Nail Polish Test

I’m a girly girl at heart, so of course I love having my nails done!
But I’m also a little bit of a perfectionist, so I’d rather have no nail polish than a chipped and messy mani.
I HATE putting time and effort into doing my nails when it without fail, almost always chips within a few hours.(Is this just a problem I have?) I discovered Gel Nails a few years back and they are amazing! They have been the only way I’ve done my nails. But dang, they are ridiculously expensive! The cost has meant that I usually don’t have my nails done and it’s made me look into buying all of the needed materials (UV light and polishes) to do it at home for cheaper.
BUT THEN, my hair dresser told me about this new nail polish called Vinylux. It’s a base coat and a top coat polish that is hardened by natural light rather than UV light. She said it was a perfect middle ground between Gel nails and traditional nail polish. It sounded too good to be true, so I put is to the ultimate test and these are my results!
Oh my goodness! I’m in love with this polish!
Basically, it looks almost as good as a gel nail manicure, it goes on quicker (It took me 8 minutes), doesn’t use a UV light, it doesn’t chip like normal polish, it comes off SO much easier than gel nails, it isn’t as damaging to your nails as Gel nails can be and the cost is totally affordable! — yeah, I’m in love.
I would say the only plus to Gel nails are that they last twice as long.
So how do you get this amazing Vinylux polish? I bought mine at my Salon (Suggestions Salon in Orem Utah) but you can also find it online through Amazon. I haven’t found it at any drug stores or beauty supply stores.
Try it out and let me know if you feel the same way!

Hi Elise, I love your blog and this post is great I am so glad they have it on Amazon as I live in the UK. Could I ask did you need a specific polish remover? Thanks x

See yours look good, I got mine done at a well known salon here in Cleveland and it looked terrible! The nail polish started to literally peel off of my nail the next day. It was terrible because the next day was Valentine's Day and the first time I would have seen My Guy in 6 weeks. So of course I wanted nice looking nails but in reality they looked terrible. Maybe they look better with a full color but as a french manicure they looked terrible.

I painted my nails on friday when I got off work at 4, by 7 they were chipped all to hell. I was so mad!! I LOVE Gel nails & shellac, but it's so expensive. It looks like the Vinylux is by the same brand as shellac, I'll have to try it!

Love the chart! I have wanted to try the Vinylux for awhile now because I've heard such good things about. I think I'm going to order a bottle soon! Thanks for the great review. 🙂 xo Always, Abby
