    DIY S’mores Box

We have a super fun backyard project in the works and will be adding a firepit with a seating area.  And I know the FIRST thing we are going to want to do is roast marshmallows and make s’mores.  I recently got a Cricut, and I’ve been DYING to use it for a project.  So I thought I could use some scrap wood from my projects and create a fun little s’mores box! Once I finished building the box, I painted it, added some cute handles, and started cutting my labels.  It was SO easy.  I was totally intimidated at first with the Cricut, but once I got started it…

Pantry Remodel- Builder Grade to Butler!

As soon as I finished our mudroom built in’s with a secret door to our pantry, I knew the pantry deserved a glow up to match the marvelous mudroom!  Our pantry was a builder grade pantry with standard shelving.  I wanted to make it more functional, create more space for storage, and hopefully a system to keep things more organized! This is what the pantry looked like before: My first step in any process is to use Sketchup to determine my plans.  This saves me trips back and forth to the hardware store, and helps me think out my creative ideas before I actually start building. Before I even started…

    Pocket Hole Basics for Beginners

Before I started DIY projects on my own, I had never made a pocket hole in my life.  I’m not sure why, but they were incredibly intimidating for me.  However, after I made my first project with pocket holes I was literally addicted!  Now I use them in almost every project- I try to find excuses to use them! The only tools you need to make your pocket hole is a Kreg Jig and a drill.  There are a few different models of Kreg Jigs, from extremely basic to deluxe.  All models work well to make pocket holes, but I would suggest making your selection based off how often you…

    Arched Board & Batten Transformation

The board and batten in Gracie’s room was the my first DIY project exactly one year ago. I did completely on my own. It is what helped me realize what I was capable of and totally got me addicted to power tools. I’m excited to upgrade it and give it a little extra, unique flare!!! This is where I started with Gracie’s bedroom: And I transformed it to this: I am so proud of this room- it was exactly what I envisioned and I’m so proud to say that I did it myself!  But, a few months ago I was inspired by some architecture I saw and KNEW I had…

    Mudroom Renovation

I’ve been dreaming of our mudroom renovation for months and it’s finally done! Complete with custom built lockers, new door, and shiplap! Mudroom Before: Here is the plan for the mudroom: Vertical shiplap Custom built in lockers (I use Sketch Up when making my designs) Upgrade our door that goes into the garage New light fixture BONUS- Secret pantry door- I’m so excited for this! If you’ve been following along in my stories you’ve seen the vertical shiplap fiasco of 2021.  Basically I tried to do shiplap the “cheap way” and save a few bucks. I quickly regretted the decision when I realized how much extra work I had gotten…

Painting Your Piano- Step by Step Tutorial

I painted my piano for the first time about 4 years ago with chalk paint. I have been so happy with how it’s held up all these years! But, I was ready for a color change so I painted it again! Here are all the steps I took to get a beautiful professional looking finish when painting your piano!   PRODUCTS- I used BB FROSCH paint transformer and Sherwin Williams ProClassic trim paint in the color Egret White (It has a slight grey to it. Very pretty!). The paint transformer turns any paint into chalk paint.  I wanted a matte finish so I got the paint in satin finish. I…

    Plaid Wainscoating in Half Bathroom

I have a half bathroom in our house that was quite honestly boring.  I think most half baths are boring because of their size, and they don’t always get a lot of use.  If you’ve been following along with me on Instagram for long, you know I’m the queen of “extra”, and so I knew I had to do something in this room to make it “extra”.  My friend, Christine, did a complete makeover in Jordan Page’s office and I fell IN LOVE with her accent wall.  So I thought why not give it a try here! This project was WAY more tedious than I anticipated it to be.  Altogether,…

    Christmas Tree Box DIY

I LOVE the look of a Christmas Tree box instead of a skirt! It looks so homey, cozy, and unique. I had SO many questions last year about my Christmas tree box so here is a step by step tutorial on how to make your own! This is such a fun and affordable DIY! I’ve included two different versions with instructions. One is a non-foldable option that is more simple to construct and a little more affordable and the second is a foldable version that takes just a little bit more time and money. Both good options! Non-Foldable Version Materials 3 –1x4x8 boards 2- 1x3x8 boards 4 L brackets Wood…
