Favorite Tools for DIY

Today, I’m sharing my favorite tools for DIY that I swear by when tackling various projects around my house and beyond. From protection gear to power saws and everything in between, let’s dive into the essentials!

Protection

Starting out right at the top of the list because, Safety First! When working with paint and power tools, it’s so important to protect yourself. These glasses are shatterproof- plus they’re cute and comfortable!

Measuring

Accurate measurements are key to any successful project- these tools help us get it right the first time, most of the time. The laser level is an absolute game changer when it comes to hanging things and even painting my murals.

Painting Favorites

I’m always amazed at just how much of a difference paint can make. Never forget to prep your project before starting. This Frogtape is leaps and bounds (see what I did there?) better than blue painters tape. The cordless paint guns have made so many projects go so fast and have an amazing finish.

Clamps

Probably not the flashiest of my favorite DIY Tools, but these clamps help hold everything together while glue dries or while we screw things into place. We could not have lived without these when we did our DIY office

Adhesives, Fillers & Associated Tools

Get your surfaces ready for painting and assembly with putty knives, wood glue, spackle, and a calk gun for sealing gaps and cracks. Gorilla makes the best glue, hands down. I’m willing to die on that hill.

Power Saws

As you can tell, there’s a lot of Dewalt yellow happening in our garage. These quality of these tools is amazing and while they are a bit of an investment up-front, I use them all the time!

Sanding

Ok, nobody likes sanding. It’s a chore that must be done but is not always the most fun. I try to limit the amount of time I’m sanding by using high quality products, these are some of my favorites!

Drilling and Drill Bits

Keeping in line with that happy yellow, these are some of my most used tools that have been with me for almost all of the DIY projects I’ve done.

Detail Cutting

The Yellow keeps on coming! For precision cutting tasks, invest in cordless routers, jig saws, and oscillating multi-tools for versatility and efficiency.

Pocket Hole Jig & Accessories

Pocket holes can be so intimidating but they don’t need to be! Once you have the right tools, these make joinery so easy!

Manual Tools

Essential hand tools like hammers, pliers, pry bars, screwdriver sets, utility knives, and rubber mallets are must-haves for any DIY toolkit.

Miscellaneous Must-Haves

From heat guns and stud finders to nail guns and battery packs, these miscellaneous tools have come in handy for a wide range of projects. and have certainly earned their place in our garage.

Cleaning

Let’s face it, DIY and and carpentry projects make huge messes! This shop vac seriously picks up so much stuff and these garbage bags are like magic. I’ve put so many sharp and jagged things in them and they hold up so, so well.

And there you have it, folks – my go-to toolkit for DIY projects. With these tools by your side, you’ll be ready to tackle any project!  Happy DIYing!
